Punta Arenas is a port extréme southern Chile. It is the capital of the region of Magallanes. It is located on the Strait of Magellan and is considered the capital of the Chilean Patagonia. Punta Arenas is strategically located in a canal that connects the Atlantic and Pacific through the Strait of Magellan. Founded in 1848, represented the first act of the sovereignty of Chile in this remote and inhospitable territory.
